High School
Sunday: We meet downstairs in the high school room each Sunday from 9:00-10:15. During this time, we worship through music led by fellow high school students and then dive into God’s word through a time of relevant and dynamic preaching. You are welcome to bring friends to Sunday morning services.
Wednesday: Every Wednesday night, we meet from 7:00-8:30 in the high school room. During the first Wednesday of every month, we play some of the craziest games in town for one hour and then hear a message from the Bible. The first Wednesday of each month is a great time to bring a friend to hear about forgiveness and having a relationship with God. Every other Wednesday, guys and girls meet separately in small groups to discuss real life issues, pray for each other and hang out. Friends are welcome every Wednesday night.
Monthly Events: Every month, high school will get together for a monthly activity. Monthly activities can include camps, mission trips, 30 Hour Famine, Overnighters and beach trips. Fliers and information for monthly events can be found in the high school room one month prior to the event. In order for your student to participate, you must have a signed parent permission slip and sign the sign-up sheet in the high school room. You can find permission slips on this website as well as in the high school room.
Park Night Wed., Sept. 8, 6:00-7:30 p.m. Ronald Reagan Park
Movie Night Sat., Sept. 18, 6:00-10:00 p.m. "To Save a Life" Pizza, popcorn & discussion.
Camps: Every summer the high school ministry goes to the premier camp for young people and will be the best week of your child’s summer and possibly even their year! Sign ups for camp will start beginning in March.
Guidlines:
Trips: The Youth Ministry frequently goes on mission trips, monthly events, and twice a year we go to camp. These trips give the students and staff a wonderful opportunity to build friendships and make memorable experiences. For this reason, when we go on a trip, we ask that all Ipods, cd players, walkmans, dvd players, video games, etc. stay at home.
PDA: Public Display of Affection. Teenagers will be teenagers no matter how hard parents try to postpone the inevitable! We are referring to romantic feelings for the opposite sex. We understand that these feelings are quite normal but in the Youth Ministry, our goal is to create friendships over romance. Therefore, there will be no hand holding, extended periods of hugging, lying or sitting on top of other students and especially no tonsil hockey!
Swimwear: Who doesn’t like to have a good tan? Even though we live in sunny Southern California, we desire for our students to dress modestly rather than work on their tan. With this in mind, our policy on swimwear is:
Guys: No speedos or European looking bathing suits. Please wear swimming shorts that fit and please do not show off your “backside.”
Girls: One piece preferred, modest Tankinis ok. All two piece bathing suits must have a dark colored, non see-through shirt worn at all times. Note: Hume Lake does not allow two pieces. They adhere to the one piece bathing suit rule at all times.
Driving: High School students may not drive other High School students to Youth Ministry events. Please have your child sign up in advance for the event to secure a ride.
